About this Experience / Cruise

Punta Norte is the most famous beach on Isla Mujeres and one of the most celebrated stretches of sand in the entire Mexican Caribbean — a long strip of white sand with shallow, crystal-clear water and dozens of yachts anchored just offshore on any given afternoon.

We anchor just off the beach where the water is shallow and calm enough to swim to shore. Walk the beach, explore the natural sand pool — the largest in the area — or snorkel along the rocky reef formations at the edge of the bay. The tourist scene here is lively and fun, and the shallow water makes it one of the most relaxed swimming stops on any of our routes.

Come in the morning for calm water and the beach mostly to yourself. Come in the afternoon for the full Punta Norte experience — by sunset there are well over a hundred boats gathered, music playing from every direction and a lively scene that goes on until the sun goes down. Plan for 5–7 hours for this trip, including the ride out and back. A fresh prepared lunch, soft drinks and open bar are served. Ask about the charcoal BBQ option.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Punta Norte known for?+
Punta Norte is the northern tip of Isla Mujeres and home to one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico — consistently ranked among the best in the Caribbean.
Can we anchor and swim near Punta Norte beach?+
Yes — we anchor just off Punta Norte where the water is shallow, calm and a strong turquoise color. You'll be able to swim to shore and walk the beach.
Will we see the famous Isla Mujeres beach from the boat?+
You'll see it from the water first — arriving by private boat to Punta Norte is one of the better approaches in the Mexican Caribbean.
Is this cruise better in the morning or afternoon?+
Definitely better in the morning if you want the beach to yourself. By evening Punta Norte turns into a gathering of 100+ yachts — a completely different but equally good scene.
Can we snorkel at Punta Norte?+
Yes — there is good snorkeling with marine grass and sea life just below the surface. From there you can snorkel out to a large natural sand pool in shallow, clear water nearby.
Can we get off the boat and walk into town?+
Yes — we can dock at Punta Norte's commercial neighbourhood so you can explore the shops, restaurants and streets. Note there is a dock fee of approximately $40 USD paid directly to the marina on arrival.
How long does it take to reach Punta Norte from the marina?+
Roughly one hour depending on sea conditions — the crossing is a good part of the experience.
